HAIRDRESSING BACKGROUND

I consider myself extremely privileged  to have trained and worked with among the best hairdressers in South Africa. Visionaries such as the Moavero brothers at OGGI, who were radical and uncompromising proponents of  the TONI & GUY and VIDAL SASSOON hairdressing philosophy in South Africa. They were also possibly the earliest missionaries of creative boundary pushing, and International Celebrity, vetted Exclusivity.
By association. the influences of great teachers and Maverick expressionists, such as Michelle Simpson and Andrew Confait (R.I.P. my brother) have inspired me, and have formed within me an unyielding appreciation and commitment to the creative evolution of hairdressing. Memorably, months of Intensive training under TONI & GUY Educational director, Dino Brown created an inspirational platform for me and formed the fountain of ongoing creative possibilities.

My journey through hair, has encompassed many dynamics of expression.
As a creative director for Marcus Maximillian, and Burgundy Hair respectively, I relished the added aspects of photographic styling, show work and improvisational applications.
As a freelance stylist, I enjoyed the muted, creative angst of numerous Glamor/Fashion shoots, with my work appearing in many publications.

From my earliest days of obsession, with the chemical aspects of hair and products, to cutting models blindfolded before thousands, to pursuing creative divinity, and on to teaching the next generations ...there is one thing  I press myself to be each day....
A motivated vessel of creative power, to every client who chooses my chair as their destination.

THIS JOHANNESBURG HAIRSTYLIST'S BEST PRACTICES & PHILOSOPHY

Before a hairdresser can be accomplished accurately and successfully in Hairdressing, the most crucial element required is COMMUNICATION. Without it the keenest creative achievements can become, at best, misguided. I believe that the close association of communication and UNDERSTANDING is the key that unlocks the path to success in any creative endeavor involving a client's hair.

Hairstyling is both a skill and an art form. As the latter, it is subject to personal interpretation and expression, as well as the seasonal aspects and influences of trends and fashion.

This brings us to what I believe is another crucial dynamic of my trade. BALANCE. As a fashion forward hairstylist I am a constant seeker of fresh ideas with a vigilant eye on world hairdressing trends. I am committed to the constant evolution of my own skills and creativity, as well as that of other Hairstylists, through education and international exposure.

To serve only trends and creative evolution is a wonderful pursuance, but limiting in the professional salon environment.

Each client is unique and original, requiring different dynamics of skill and creativity. I choose to interpret the best path for each client, implementing a BALANCE between individually tailored styling and the most current trends. I believe that my love for people and appreciation for INDIVIDUAL EXPRESSION has been the overriding factor in my having such a diverse clientele.

From Kids to Captains of Industry, from Models to Moms, from Local Urbanites to Global Jetsetters, these are the people I am privileged to serve.
